One foot of height. Standard containers are 8 ft 6 in externally with about 7 ft 10 in inside; high cubes are 9 ft 6 in with about 8 ft 10 in inside. Choose high cube if you will insulate, line, stand up inside or stack two pallets high.

Around ten to eleven standard pallets on the floor of a 20ft, and twenty to twenty-two in a 40ft. Double-stacking roughly doubles those numbers where the load allows.

A 20ft takes most standard cars with little room to spare. A 20ft high cube or a 40ft is far more comfortable, especially if you want to open the doors or work on the vehicle inside.

Not usually. Corten weathering steel forms a stable oxide layer that slows further corrosion. Touch up any point where the coating has broken and it will not become structural. Our maintenance guide covers it.

The listed price is for the unit. Transport is quoted separately against your postcode, the vehicle needed and the access at your end, so ask for a delivered total when you enquire.

Multi-unit orders often save on transport because more than one container can travel on a single vehicle. Send us the quantity and destination and we will quote the combined job.

For a tilt-bed delivery allow roughly twice the container length of straight, firm run, around 10 ft of width and 16 ft of overhead clearance. Where that is not available, a HIAB or crane can place the unit in a much tighter space. See the delivery preparation guide.

Firm and level. Compacted hardcore, concrete or tarmac all work. Put timber or concrete blocks under the four corner castings so the floor bearers sit clear of standing water.

Frequently, yes, for 10ft and 20ft units where the surface is sound and the vehicle can get in and out. A 40ft on a domestic driveway is rarely possible without a crane.

Yes. Someone should be on site for the delivery window to direct placement, confirm which way the doors face and sign for the container.

Yes. Corten steel welds and cuts readily, so doors, windows, vents, insulation, partitions, electrics and lighting can all be added. Modifications fitted before delivery are cheaper than retrofits.

Add vents, keep goods off the floor on pallets, leave an air gap around stacked items against the walls, and use hanging moisture absorbers. Closed-cell spray foam insulation removes the cold surface entirely and is the permanent fix.

They are designed to stack at the corner castings and should be twist-locked together. On land a taller stack presents more wind loading than the same stack at sea, so take advice before going above two high.

The shell is 14-gauge Corten steel with no external hinges to attack, so the padlock is always the weak point. Every unit we supply has a welded lock box that shrouds a closed-shackle padlock so cutters cannot reach the shackle.

Yes. We can supply units shot-blasted and repainted, including corporate colours and signage. Prepared and painted in the yard is far easier than doing it on your site.

For temporary storage on a commercial site a container is usually treated as a chattel rather than a building. Rules differ by authority and by how permanently the unit is fixed, so if it becomes habitable, a permanent office, or sits on residential land long term, check with your local planning department first.

The Convention for Safe Containers data plate on the door, recording the container identity, tare weight, maximum gross weight and the date of its last approved examination. You only need a valid one if the container will be shipped again.

Once it is on your site it is your asset, so check whether your existing property or business policy covers it and its contents. Insurers will usually ask about the lock and the site security.

You will receive an order confirmation and invoice, and the container carries its own identity number and CSC plate. Ask us if you need anything further for your records.

Inspect before you sign, photograph anything you are not happy with and raise it with us immediately. Problems reported on the day are far easier to resolve than problems reported a fortnight later.
